First Majestic Achieves Quarterly Gold Production Record | Mining
Also at Jerritt Canyon, the plant processed 146,611 metric tonnes with an average gold grade of 0.14 ounces per tonne and an 84% recovery.
The SSX and Smith mines at Jerritt Canyon contributed approximately 51% and 28% of total production, respectively, during the quarter. In addition, many areas contributed around 21% of the total production for the quarter.
The company has identified more than 25 exploration drill targets that are authorized to drill or are in the process of being drilled. Over the next six to 12 months, First Majestic plans “an aggressive exploration program” to track and test these priority, near-mine and new targets, the company said.
A total of five rigs, comprising two surface rigs and three underground rigs, were active at the end of the quarter.
Also during the quarter, the company obtained a permit to lift a tailings storage facility. The first elevator preparation and construction activities started in June and completion is expected in the fourth quarter.
Neumeyer said First Majestic plans “to make significant improvements to Jerritt Canyon, but it will take time and investment.”
Report calls Jerritt Canyon “one of the state’s most important gold mines” but says it “has suffered from a lack of investment in exploration and development in recent years” .
